Her children arise and call her blessed, and more on the shop...

One of the verses in Proverbs 31 is that her children arise and call her blessed. My children do arise and call me blessed. Yes, they are 5,4,3 and 17 months, but I think that I am on the right track with keeping it that way. Here is what I have learned about mothering successfully up to this point.

---Respect their father, even if you are no longer together, respect him. Even if he is not respectable, respect him. They learn how to treat you by the way that you treat others. Especially if it is someone as important as their dad.
They will honor you for your love, respect, kindness towards others.

---spend time with them doing things that they love...It's tying strings. The time that you have with them is sacred, precious, and will build and nurture a loving and trusting relationship that will last a lifetime.

---teach them to work---My children even at their tender ages do many chores around the house because they are capable of doing them. I don't put too much on them and be sure to balance it with play, special trips, and relaxation. A child who works has respect for property, respect for themselves, and will be content in a house that NEEDS their contribution.

---nurture them---listen to their heart, and pray about the things that you hear

----pray for them---daily, all day, without ceasing. Pray that their hearts would be soft, pliable and teachable..Pray for them, this is a mothers most powerful asset.

ceremony where I pinned my husband Lt in the Navy, and yes I am wearing the most popular dress in my shop.
Sweet Home Boutique is going well. In one week I have made 7 sales so far. I am also going to have the opportunity to make my first cinch belt. A customer in Switzerland asked if she could have the above pictured dress with a cinch belt instead of a bow (and specialty fabric as well). I have ordered several yards of 3 inch elastic, and will make hers. I am very excited to make them, and if I really like them, stay tuned, they will be in my shop...I particularly like the style, and love getting new ideas from my customers...

Right now I am working on several orders to construct and ship out. I am in the process of restocking all of my fabrics that I am out or low on. I like having all of my fabric ready, so when an order is placed I can construct it and ship it out. Right now I am waiting on several different types of fabric to come in so my turnover time is not as quick as I like, but by next week all of the kinks should be worked out, and I should be operating again as a well oiled machine...

Here are some new tops that I have sold in the past, and will re list again as soon as I can order the fabric. I love this fabric from Moda, their fandango collection.

Proverbs 31, gas cards, and new sizes in my store...1X and 2X

Someone on Etsy read my blog, and reminded me that I should put scripture in my sewing station to remind me of why I am doing my shop, and the scripture that came back to me, again was Proverbs 31...She is a great model of what a Godly woman should look like. I am going to use some upcoming posts discussing the proverbs 31 woman and applying it to my life

Today I will start with... proverbs 10:11-12
11 Her husband has full confidence in her
   and lacks nothing of value.
12 She brings him good, not harm,
all the days of her life

So A proverbs 31 woman's husband has full confidence in her, and she adds to his life and blesses it.
I would have to say that I struggle with selfishness and pride, so when I first married my husband 8 years ago

I could not wait for ME to be taken care of, protected and loved.
I know, we were babies...
I have realized over these last eight years that it is my responsibility to do my best, and contribute the most, not only for my husband, but to honor the Lord.

Here is a practical way that I bring my husband good and not harm. We are a family of six, and I have found that searching around town and couponing can bless my husband, and take some burden off of his shoulders of being the sole provider.
A Sunoco rewards card, my husband commutes an hour a day and even though he drives a
hooptie, beater that makes funny noises but we could get it without getting into debt
car that is not bad on gas mileage, it all adds up
here's the scenario, you bring your card and swipe it when you buy one of their participating products, and get X cents off your gas per gallon. Here I got my children an treat for feeling guilty about sewing again
icee, with this $4 purchase I got 20 cents off per gallon added to my rewards card

if you squint your eyes really hard you will see circled the amount I have accumulated from buying coffees and other things from Sunoco 1.99 off per gallon...that would make my gas 1.20 a gallon the next time our cars need to be filled up

So. The moral of the story is that I have brought my husband good. When he gets home I can share the news of our lower gas cost, he can be happy because he married such a wise spender, the children can be happy because their tummies are filled up with icees, and we all live happily ever after. That is an example of a proverbs 31 woman.

On the Etsy Shop home front Sweet Home Boutique...I have listed a new top for my store.

I know, I look like a bug here, but I was taking the picture myself...I guess if I was more patient I could wait until my husband got home to photograph for me...

I have also lowered the prices on most of the items from my shop, not because I have lowered the quality, I still use all of the best materials, but I wanted to make my clothing a price that is competitive. I am also going to start offering XL (16-18), and XXL (20-22) for my lovely customers. I dont' want anyone not to be able to wear my clothing. I will charge 5.00 more for a 1X, and 10.00 more for a 2X...

Happy Wednesday!!

Sweet Home Boutique: my destiny...

my destiny...

Why do I do Sweet Home Boutique?

It all started with this prayer, "Lord, I don't want to miss my destiny"

We were going to church at Hope Chapel West Oahu in Hawaii where the pastor was living in His destiny, and a pretty amazing one at that. He was big on preaching on our Destiny and not missing it, and so went my prayer. I thought it a sad state to go through life and never reach the mark of why I was here. My heartfelt surrendered prayer birthed in me the desire to start a clothing shop. I have always loved to sew, and I look back and see how Sweet Home Boutique was always there. Of course like every little girl I loved dressing up, and inventing outfits. In fifth grade my "style" was men's ties and twirl skirts. In middle school it was flannel shirts (another item borrowed from my dads clothing stash). I was in a modeling competition when I was 14  and I had no interest in looking my "best", but having the most style...a superman shirt, red skirt, shoes, and white high heals. This outfit that made me get voted, "most likely to start a fashion trend" in my 8th grade class.  In high school my sister and I always made a stop at a massive goodwill on the way home from visiting family in Ohio. They had a large selection of vintage clothing, and I always stocked up on bell bottoms, and dresses from the 1970's. (my inspiration pictured below)

my parents on their wedding day :-)

So, on to the destiny part. I do not feel more alive and excited than when I am making clothing. It is a passion that the Lord has birthed in me, and I believe one of the purposes I was born in this time. I want to be sure to  keep the Lord glorified in my shop as He is the only source of success and failure. I don't know all of the reasons of why this is my destiny, or what God is going to do with it, but I know that I need to stay surrendered in every area of it for Gods purpose to be fullfilled in this shop.

I am really into he halters right now for summer, I have two more pieces in this style in the next day or two. One more tunic, and the other a halter dress with with a linen attached belt. I am also thinking about offering coupon codes for my shop through my fan page on Etsy.

Hope you have a wonderful day, oh and here is another pic from my garden
