As I was looking over my house and realizing that it needed an update with curtains and decor I had an idea. Why not make some things for my house and also list it in my shop for a home decor line. I spoke with some other people on Etsy about it and they thought my shop name "Sweet Home Boutique" lent itself well to the idea of incorporating home decor. So, about 2 weeks ago I started to slowly adding home decor items to my shop. I started with valances and soon added a piano bench cover and curtains. I really like how things are starting to come together in our newish house, and I have so far had a great response with my items on Etsy. I already made my first sale in this new shop section, and will be soon adding more options to spruce up your home with. This will include new fabrics as well as scalloped banners in the print of the valances, table runners and more. What do you think of what I have got started with up to this point?

I go through seasons where I am not that into skirts, and seasons where I can not get enough of them. I am currently in a season where I can't get enough of them! It might have something to do with our area. I have noticed that a lot of women in my circles wear skirts and it is quite modest looking. The most comfortable skirts ever I think are shirred waist skirts pictured below. I have made several the past week, and have plans to make many more. I also really like yoga skirts with a band, so I will be working on them as well as maxi skirts. Here are some new skirts I have made lately, what do you think? They are all available in Sweet Home Boutique!

Last week I had some down time and really wanted to make some burlap banners for my house. I started with a banner that said family for my mantel, and I fell in love! I knew I wanted to make them available in my shop so I started making more and listing them. Pretty soon my house is going to be full of burlap banners, and so is my shop!! I am also doing a Giveaway on my Facebook Page for a crochet turkey hat. Perfect for fall and SO cute!! So, if you like free things and crochet turkey hats come check it out. Here is the turkey hat that I am using for the giveaway, and my new banners! Tell me what you think!

I have been having a lot of fun staying super busy with my shop. I have created some new designs on my own as well as helped to design custom pieces for my customers special events. One that I am really excited about it my new line of flower girl dresses (below) that I created with a customer for her wedding! I also made a matching mother/daughter set of dresses for a vow renewal ceremony. The neatest thing that I have not done before was to sew in a special piece of jewelry that the bride had on her wedding day. I thought that idea was really neat and very unique! I also made some milestones in my shop this week with making it to 300 sales. I am now at 303, and looking forward to many more customers trusting my artistic hand to their style. My personal goal for the month of September is to have 215 items in my shop. I am currently at 181 items, so I am making my way there. Here are some new items I have added below. To check them out in my shop, click on the pictures.
That is it for now! Have a sweet day! Is there anything else you would like to see offered in Sweet Home Boutique?

Last Sunday was interesting. I was feeling horrible, but decided to go to church anyway because I thought getting out and about would make me feel better. After walking out halfway through service to go warm my chilled skin in the sun outside I decided I needed to go to the ER. At the ER to my surprise they diagnosed me with pneumonia! I never usually get sick, and when I do it's pneumonia! My body does not mess around when it get's sick..ha ha. After spending several days in bed, I eventually got up and started slowly back to sewing up new items. I have so many ideas in store, but here is what I came up with so far. A polka dot dress for women, a red bird dress, Christmas dress, and adorable corduroy shaw jacket for girls! I am really in love with that style and will also be adding it in women's sizes as well. Here you go, tell me what you think?

Fall is coming so I am getting ready. Usually the southern heat makes me very ready for the mild temperatures of fall. Even though I homeschool this time of year bring back so many memories of being a child and starting fresh. It was a new season, and a new school year. The temperature was dropping and the leaves started to die and fall to the ground. I can still smell the aroma of jumping into a huge pile of leaves as a child. Fall inspires me as a time of gathering, hope, and refreshment. So, to get things ready for this wonderful season I added some festive fall fashion to my shop for children.

Besides crafting for my shop I also craft for my day job, homeschooling. We are studying the earth and are going to be doing an experiment with the layers of the earth. The materials called for 3 colors of play dough red, green, and blue. Since our store bought play dough is all mixed together and crusty I pulled out this fabulous play dough recipe that I got awhile ago on Pintrest. It is very easy to do and the thing that takes the most time is getting together the supplies. You probably have most supplies already in the house except cream of tarter. Cream of tarter can be found in the spice section at your local grocery store. We also found something to do with our old broken crayons! I had my children take off the wrappers and break them up into little pieces. After that we melted them in little heart shape cookie molds. The result was cool multicolor heart shape crayons. This was also another Pintrest idea!
